  • ART201S Recombinant Human Apo-Transferrin(High Pure, Solid)

ART201S Recombinant Human Apo-Transferrin (Apo-Transferrin, iron-free form) is a formulation-free recombinant protein expressed in Pichia pastoris using an animal-free production system. It contains no added stabilizers, carrier proteins, or other formulation excipients, delivering excellent purity and batch-to-batch consistency. Iron saturation can be flexibly modulated according to specific culture processes, making it suitable for serum-free, low-serum, and chemically defined (CD) media systems. It is widely used in mesenchymal stem cell (MSC), iPSC, ESC, and immune cell (NK cell, T cell) culture, providing flexibly controllable iron supply for cell proliferation and metabolism. Lyophilized powder form, store at 2–8°C protected from light.

    Background

Transferrin (TF) is the major iron-containing protein in plasma. It not only participates in iron transport and metabolism, respiratory processes, cell proliferation, and immune system regulation, but also possesses antioxidant and bactericidal protective functions, and is widely used in cell culture. Transferrin exists in three forms: apo (iron-free), holo (saturated with two iron ions), and partially saturated. This product is a recombinant human transferrin expressed and purified from Pichia pastoris using genetic recombination technology. It does not contain animal-derived components, carries no risk of blood-borne virus infection, and has high batch-to-batch stability. This product is apo-transferrin, suitable for culture media that are inherently iron-rich.

    Directions for Use

This product is in lyophilized powder form. It is recommended to reconstitute with sterile water, PBS, or other suitable buffer to prepare a stock solution at 0.5–2.0 mg/mL.

After complete dissolution, filter-sterilize using a 0.22 μm sterile membrane filter. The filtered stock solution can be stored under aseptic conditions at 2–8°C and is recommended to be used within 30 days. Further dilute as needed before adding to culture medium according to the specific culture system requirements.

Aliquot for single-use storage and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles to maintain product activity and stability.

Optimal transferrin concentration may vary across different cell types and culture systems. Optimization and validation based on specific culture processes and experimental objectives are recommended.

    Transport & Storage

    Ice pack transport.

Store at 2–8°C, protected from light, sealed, and moisture-proof.

    Applications

ART201S Recombinant Human Apo-Transferrin exists in the iron-free form with vacant iron-binding sites, allowing users to freely modulate iron saturation according to specific culture process requirements. It is suitable for serum-free, low-serum, and chemically defined (CD) media systems.

Applicable cell types include but are not limited to:

    • Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC)

    • Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)

    • Embryonic stem cells (ESC)

    • NK cells, T cells, and other immune cells

    • CHO cells, HEK293 cells, and other engineered cells

    • Other mammalian cell culture systems

As an important iron transport carrier in cell culture, Apo-Transferrin provides a flexible and controllable iron supply solution for culture systems requiring custom iron content. It is complementary to Holo-Transferrin, which is inherently iron-loaded, meeting diverse iron regulation needs across different process development scenarios.

    Precautions

    • This product is intended for research, process development, and biomanufacturing use only. Not for diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical use in humans or animals.

    • Use the product as soon as possible after opening. Unused portions should be promptly sealed and stored under recommended conditions.

    • Handle reconstituted solutions under aseptic conditions to avoid microbial contamination.

    • Optimal transferrin concentration and iron saturation requirements may vary across different cell types and culture systems. Determine optimal usage conditions through preliminary experiments tailored to the specific cell type and culture process.

    • Read the product technical datasheet carefully before use and follow relevant experimental protocols.
